So far, the paper and wood processing industry has played a very significant part in my career. I think I have also left my mark on the paper industry. Although the industry has been familiar for decades and routines can be found, working in the customer interface makes an experienced veteran to learn something new. This in turn feeds enthusiasm and motivation.
Solutions for the needs of the paper and wood processing industry
Various machines for the paper and plywood industry were an acquisition transaction were added to Tamtron’s selection at the turn of the millennium. For the paper and board industry, we design, manufacture, and install pulp bale conveyors and rejected material conveyors k to recycle broken paper or board to produce premium paper and board and accessories for them. For example, our project deliveries often include removal equipment for pulp bales binding yarn.
In addition to conveyors, we offer glue kitchens that mix glue widely used in the plywood industry. These often also include automation, which can be connected to factory automation systems. We usually supply the equipment installed and also carry out commissioning and testing, especially for automation.
Conveyors are a long-term investment that will be made for decades to use. This requires sufficiently strong structures and quality materials and components. Conveyors made in the 1990s are still in use in Finland. Most customer companies are so large that the machines are maintained and serviced by their maintenance organization, which replaces chains, bearings, and other consumables. We support our customers through our expertise and spare parts deliveries.

Customers often give different ideas and thoughts about how the equipment or plant would be built. Our task is to find the optimal solutions together with the customers, which are also feasible in practice so that the customer considers the benefits of the agreed technical solutions.
As no new paper mills have been built in Finland for more than 20 years, the conveyors and other equipment to be modernized must fit into existing, sometimes cramped layouts and spaces. The design process, therefore, always involves a considerable amount of work, and it is often our job to tailor the equipment to the customer’s premises. This requires a thorough use of the lessons learned from our long experience and, on the other hand, flexibility in the design phase.
Customers and user experiences help development.
Paper machines themselves have yet to develop much in recent years. On the other hand, the technology on the control side and the electrical automation side is constantly evolving. It is an area of particular interest to the customer, seeking efficiency and competitiveness by reducing human labor. We have been refining solutions for over 30 years and have always strived to add more value. When you listen carefully to the customer and their user experiences, there is always more to offer. Listening and paying close attention to the customer makes me an even more experienced person to develop continuously in my work.
This is not a sunset business at all
The paper industry’s story is not a sunset business, although you can always read those negative headlines in the news. Trends vary, as in any other industry. It may mean closing other lines, but in return, setting up new investments or opening new factories. Investments in the paper industry will be made over a more extended period, and Tamtron.’s experts are still making offers and projects that will serve companies for decades.
