Tamtron’s (former Lahti Precision) experience of collaboration with paper and cardboard manufacturers spans several decades. Paper industry machines have long service lives, resulting in long-term collaboration in services related to them.
Partnerships built on reliable operations and rapid responses
Sales manager Pekka Huusko has worked with paper industry customers for more than 30 years. Despite his long career in the sector, he is still passionate about developing the services he offers to customers.
“In addition to device deliveries, the agreements cover maintenance and spare part deliveries. I aim to invest in the quality of services. I want our customers to feel they are gaining added value with us. The paper and cardboard industries are doing well, even though new work methods and the need for more efficient operating models cause continuous changes and require operators to develop new ways of doing things.”
With changes in the sector taking time, Tamtron’s strengths lie in its reliability. Customers must have access to technical support, documents, pictures and spare parts whenever they need them. Occasionally, quick responses and rapid action have been required to meet the customer’s needs in surprising situations.
“We were involved in a project in which a sudden need for two new pulp lines emerged when the old factory’s operations were shut down. We succeeded in meeting this need and delivered the pulp baling lines in a rapid and flexible manner. This allowed us to generate added value for the customer,” explains Huusko.
Occasionally, successful collaboration requires one of the partners to exceed all expectations. Huusko remembers a recent occasion when Tamtron managed in this.
“I received a message about a broken axle at 7.28 am, and about nine hours later the required part had been manufactured and delivered to the plant to be installed. We understand the seriousness of such situations and the costs involved. In the paper industry, when a critical part gets damaged, the question is not how or how much but how quickly,” says Huusko.
Tamtron received plenty of positive feedback on its quick action, which everybody was very pleased about. After all, in Finland, no news is good news and is typically a sign of the collaboration being successful.
