Scales for quantity inspection, quality control and sorting of pieces

Checkweighers are widely used in the manufacturing industry, such as for the food and pharmaceutical industries. Common applications, especially on high-speed production lines, include checking the amount of package contents and monitoring product quality, or sorting product pieces by weight. The static checkweigher that is part of the production line can also provide weight information for use of filling the product package. In a typical checkweighing operation, the product to be weighed travels along a conveyor to the scale where the weighing takes place. In case of specific weighing, the checkweigher compares the weight with the setpoint and the given tolerances. When the tolerances are exceeded, the scale gives a signal and the product is removed from the line.

Type-approved weighing instruments

Checkweighers are type-approved automatic scales in accordance with the Measuring Instruments Directive MID 2014/32 / EU and are usually verified for commercial use. The checkweigher is always equipped with a log memory if the actual weight data is used as the basis for invoicing. The log memory stores the current weighing number, time stamp and actual weight. With this information, the correctness of the weighing logged into the customer’s system can be checked afterwards.
